Hey everyone! Just popping in to say hi. I'm excited and so thankful to tell you that WE'RE MOVED IN! YAY!!! Not everything is done (as you can tell, the cabinets don't have hardware yet), and some of the rooms still have crates of stuff to be unpacked, so I'm going to hold off on posting before & afters. But I'm happy to say that I LOVE our new place. 

Our daughter turned two last weekend, so of course we had a party for her the day after we moved in. Because we weren't already exhausted from painting and trim-adding and floor-laying in addition to moving. LOL! But now things have settled in a little bit. As I mentioned in a previous post, I'm hoping to resume regular writing in October. For now I'm learning how to run all of these newfangled appliances that sing at me, and enjoying the absolute LUXURY of having a dishwasher. It's like the difference between having an indoor bathroom and an outhouse.

Not only that, but I can't believe how fast and efficient it is to cook now. The fridge is right next to the counter where my Instant Pot is. I open cupboards and I can see all of my dishes. The cups are right next to the fridge, which magically dispenses cold water and ice. It's crazy.

So yeah, to say I'm loving it is probably an understatement.

Hi everyone! Guess what? Today I have my first "before and after" pictures to share with you! This room was the smallest bedroom in the house. I've chosen to make it a library/office area, since we have so many other bedrooms.

This room really needed some love and attention. I knew that the shag carpet had to go. Underneath the carpet I found a wood floor that had been painted multiple times; the most recent color was a gray/blue. The color was okay, but the condition of the floor wasn't good enough to pass muster.

I ended up painting the walls, trim and floor to create an updated look:

I was very happy with how this turned out. I painted the floor with a faux wood finish. First I put down a light brown color, then after that dried I covered the light brown with a darker brown glaze (half paint, half water). 

The wall is a light gray color, and I painted the cedar trim white. I still need to put one coat of polycrylic on the floor, but other than that, this room is ready for furniture!

I hope to post more before and after pictures in the coming weeks. Right now we are keeping our noses to the grindstone so we can actually move in.
